Position Overview:
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of The West Shore Chamber of
Commerce and is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic planning, and operational
management of the Chamber. This role requires a dynamic, visionary leader who will work
closely with the Board of Directors, member businesses, community partners, and stakeholders
to promote economic growth, member engagement, and the visibility of the West Shore
business community.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
• Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the Chamber’s mission and goals.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the Chamber in the community.
• Foster strong relationships with member businesses, municipal leaders, and regional
partners.
Membership Growth & Engagement
• Recruit, retain, and engage members through consistent outreach and value-driven
programming.
• Ensure high-quality delivery of member services, networking opportunities, and
educational events.• Regularly assess and enhance member benefits, sponsorships, and partnership
opportunities.
Financial Oversight
• Prepare and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Treasurer and Board.
• Oversee accounting practices, financial reporting, and fundraising efforts, including
sponsorships, grants, and events.
• Ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainable revenue streams for long-term viability.
Program & Event Management
• Plan, promote, and execute Chamber programs and events such as networking
breakfasts, luncheons, ribbon cuttings, business expos, and the annual golf outing.
• Develop and oversee marketing and communications efforts to promote programs and
strengthen Chamber visibility.
Board & Governance
• Work closely with the Board of Directors to implement policies and execute the
Chamber’s strategic direction.
• Provide regular updates, reports, and recommendations to the Board.
• Support committee development and leadership engagement across the organization.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
(Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a chamber, nonprofit, or
business-related organization.
• Proven ability to cultivate partnerships and secure sponsorships or funding.
• Strong knowledge of small business and economic development trends.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
• Highly organized with experience managing multiple programs, budgets, and
stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and membership CRM software (preferred).
